Edgar Degas Exhibition, Plovdiv, Bulgaria, 2010 | The City Art Gallery, Opening event
Duration : 570 Seconds

Edgar Degas Exhibition, Plovdiv, Bulgaria, 2010 | The City Art Gallery, Opening event | L'ambassadeur de France en Bulgaria, Mr. Philippe Autie The City Gallery of Fine Arts, Plovdiv, Bulgaria. January 12th , 2011. The exhibit, which includes Degas' famous "The Little Dancer, Aged Fourteen," presents a complete set of all 74 sculptures that Degas originally carved out of wax, clay and plasticine and which were later cast in bronze by his family. This collection is entirely owned by the MT Abraham Center for the Visual Arts, and there are only four other museums in the world that possess an almost complete set of Degas bronze sculptures, with only one or two of the 74 figures missing. Degas' involvement with the body and motion Entering the exhibit, The Little Dancer faces the viewer, chin up, leg extended, with all the tension and arrogance of adolescence. Degas' involvement with the body and motion is the essence of this exhibit, at once a sensual experience to be savored and an opportunity to study the artist more closely. In the second room three small sculptures are set on a shelf, just below eye level, creating an atmosphere of intimacy -- you can almost feel Degas' hands working the wax. The immediacy and tactile quality of the exhibit is enhanced by the presence of sculptures cast from works such as the figure of a woman bowing, the expressive body rough, unfinished, limbs thick, and her head heavy and large -- the raw material of movement. Seven dancers almost ...

His profound interest in capturing the "spirit of the time" while meticulously scrutinizing the everyday—concurrent with confrontation of the lessons learned from the great masters of the past—enabled him to formulate trailblazing insights pertaining to the visual arts as well as to the prevailing ...

UNESCO World Heritage: Boyana Church, Sofia - Bulgaria
Duration : 266 Seconds

The monument was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979. The frescoes were restored and cleaned in 1912-1915 by an Austrian and a Bulgarian specialist, as well in 1934 and 1944. The church was closed for the public in 1977 in order to be conservated and restored and once again opened in 2000. The Boyana Church (Bulgarian: Боянска църква, Boyanska tsarkva) is a medieval Bulgarian Orthodox church situated on the outskirts of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, in the Boyana quarter. The east wing of the two-storey church was originally constructed in the late 10th or early 11th century, then the central wing was added in the 13th century under the Second Bulgarian Empire, the whole building being finished with a further expansion to the west in the middle of the 19th century. The church owes its world fame mainly to its frescoes from 1259. They form a second layer over the paintings from earlier centuries and represent one of the most complete and well-preserved monuments of Eastern European mediaeval art. A total of 89 scenes with 240 human images are depicted on the walls of the church. The name of the painter is recently discovered during restoration. The inscription reads: "zograph Vassilii from the village Subonosha, Sersko and his apprentice Dimitar". Producer and Director Of This Film is the Bulgarian Man Smilen Savov. If you want to order a big film from any theme, contact Smilen. More details about Dr. Smilen Savov and his creative work see on this link: www ...
