Yordan Radichkov and me- His last Video shot in October 2003
Duration : 501 Seconds

Yordan Radichkov was a famous Bulgarian writer and playwright. Some literary critics state that he is the most significant figure in Bulgarian literature in the last third of the 20th century and have referred to him as the Bulgarian Kafka or Gogol. A mixture of the fantastic and the real, Radichkov's works combined images of industrial civilization with those of a remote mythical past, and were sometimes defined as a Balkan Magic realism.

Livestock Guardians from Bulgaria."No Retreat" Karakachan Dogs!
Duration : 557 Seconds

www.karakachan.eu.org www.fwff.org www.livestockguardiandogs.com www.karakachandog.com Brief historical survey: The Karakachan dog is one of Europe's oldest breeds. It is a typical Mollos, created for guarding its owner's flock and property; it does not hesitate to fight wolves or bears to defend its owner and his family in case of danger. Its ancestors started forming as early as the third millennium BC. The Karakachan dog is a descendant of the dogs of the Thracians, the oldest inhabitants of the Balkan peninsula, renowned as stock-breeders, whom Herodotus describes as the most numerous people after the Indian one.The Proto-Bulgarians also played an essential part in the formation of the Karakachan Dog as they brought their dogs with them at the time of their migration from Pamir and Hindukush. The dog is named after the Karakachans. Due to their conservative stock-breeding traditions, they managed to preserve some of the oldest breeds of domestic animals in Europe - the Karakachan sheep, the Karakachan horse, and, of course, the Karakachan Dog. It is with this name that the Karakachan Dog appears in the works of some of the classics of Bulgarian literature, namely Yordan Yovkov, Georgi Raitchev and Yordan Radichkov. In 1938 HB Peters wrote about it in the German cinologycal magazine .The first researcher of the breed was Todor Gajtandjiev, who proposed the standardization of the breed in the 1970s. The Karakachan Dog's bravery and dignity, together with its incredible ...

Miladinov Brothers - identity.
Duration : 195 Seconds

Miladinov Brothers and their identity. en.wikipedia.org The Miladinov Brothers (Bulgarian: Братя Миладинови, Bratya Miladinovi, Vardar: Браќа Миладиновци, Brakja Miladinovci), Dimitar Miladinov (1810--1862) and Konstantin Miladinov (1830--1862), were Bulgarian poets and folklorists from Vardarska, authors of an important collection of folk songs, Bulgarian Folk Songs. In their writings, they self identified as Bulgarians, though besides contributing to Bulgarian literature, in Fyrom they are also thought to have laid the foundation of the Vardar literary tradition. The collection Bulgarian Folk Songs includes a total of 665 songs and 23559 verses. Another famous poem by Konstantin Miladinov is Tǎga za Jug (Тъга за юг), that he wrote during his stay in Russia. Their hometown hosts the international Struga Poetry Evenings festival in their honour including a poetry award named after them. Some argue that the Miladinov brothers mark the highest achievement of the Bulgarian folklore studies in the period of the Bulgarian National Revival with the richness and variety of the songs. Konstantin Miladinov, at the time of his youth, the universal belief was that the Bulgars had camped on the banks of the legendary river, had crossed it on their way to the Balkans and the origin of the name Bulgarians had come from the Russian River - Volga. Reaching its shores, Konstantin stood before it in awe, fascinated, unable to utter a word, his eyes following the flowing waters. A poet at ...
