A video by Brunei Darussalam AIDS Council for World AIDS Day 2011. The video shows the different lives of four people with one thing in common. Even though the number of HIV cases up till now in Brunei is still considered low (70 cases as of December 2011) compared to other countries, we need to educate ourselves further on this matter as well as share the knowledge with others. A 'what if' situation gets us to think critically on the subject of HIV/AIDS and decide what are we going to do about it. The people in this video are just volunteer actors. The storyline does not depict the lives of anyone living or have passed away. Thank you for those who lend a hand on this project =) HIV&AIDS does not necessarily leads to death. Stalker by the pool? Indeed. Nothing fancy about this one, just wanted to do an experiment with the waterproof camera. It isn't what we had in mind as we were actually going for daylight shooting. Instead, it got dark, such a rush and that's all we have for now for show. Shot with the Canon 550D and only the Canon 50mm f1.8 lens. Sorry for the jerky handheld shots.

The video shows rehearsals in progress, filmed at Drill Hall in preparation for a one-off performance at BAPA Conference held at Brunei Gallery (part of School of Oriental and African Studies, SOAS) in London. Paula Garfield was invited by the British Association of Paediatricians in Audiology (BAPA) to create a short performance at their annual conference on 30th January. The 15-minute performance, directed by Paula, was based on Tyron Woolfes consultation project at NDCS, Change your world. Following Tyrons presentation, deaf actors Charlotte Arrowsmith, David Sands and Martine Laverty performed a series of drama sketches using lines written by deaf children and young people who contributed their views on the type of services they wanted from NDCS. I was delighted to see some of the qualitative results interpreted into sketches by a skilled team of actors who were deaf themselves. They have turned important words into the physical realm and have given the audience (predominantly scientists) a richness that I could never have presented in a powerpoint slide.
