Meanwhile, in his keynote presentation, Professor in Banking and Economic Finance from the National University of Malaysia, Professor Dr. Abdul Ghafar Ismail highlighted that the syar'iah concerning the community's wealth is to ensure its preservation and growth as the Islamic banking system could bridge the gap between the rich and the poor by modifying the distribution of wealth and economic resources. With its theme, "Contemporary Challenges of Islamic Finance: Towards Realizing the Goals of Shari'ah", the conference will serve as a platform in consolidating numerous views and principles, between Scholars and practitioners. Some 100 participants from the Ministry of Finance, the Prime Minister's Office and various banks as well as academic institutions were present at the conference.

The Ministry of Healths Eye Department partnered with Standard Chartered Bank today to commemorate World Sight Day with the objective to raise awareness on eye health and avoidable blindness, following on this years World Sight Days theme: Gender and Eye Health-Equal Access to Care. The event took place at the Standard Chartered Banks Gadong Branch. The opening ceremony of the whole day eye testing event was launched by the Director-General of Medical Services of the Ministry of Health, Dr Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abd Jalil . The Eye Department of the RIPAS Hospital conducted free eye testing for all customers and the public in general for a whole day at Standard Chartered Banks Gadong Branch. In Brunei, health care services are virtually free and standards of health care are high. Standard Chartered is also organising a fund raising event which will be held on 6 November this year.

RTB crew learnt that the crocodile was spotted floating about 30 to 50 meters away from houses in the area. A local resident said that the crocodile was seen floating at around 9 this morning, 10 metres away from one residence. The croc's latest appearance has residents worried again, because local children often play along the river banks and residents tend to fish in the area. Following that, residents of Dato Gandi and the vicinity, as well as the general public, are reminded to stay alert and take precautions.

Borneo is the third largest island in the world and the northern region that comprises Sarawak and Sabah has been part of the Malaysian Federation since 1963. A hidden paradise, mysterious and unknown. We begin our journey in Sarawak in the north west of the island, in the capital, Kuching. The Sarawak River divides the city in two and on one of the banks are the buildings of Kampung Boyan, an old water town. Situated on a hill is Fort Margarita that dates back to 1841. We visit a village of the Bidayum Tribe and to the border of the South Indonesian section of the island. The Bidayum live in traditional long houses and survive from agriculture and river fishing. The long houses measure up to a hundred and fifty metres in length and are inhabited by several families. Between Sarawak and Sabah is the tiny sultanate of Brunei Darussalm whose capital, Bandar Seri Begawan, looks like something from an exotic fantasy. In the north east of Sabah is the majestic Mount Kinabalu, at more than thirteen thousand feet above sea level the highest mountain between the Himalayas and New Guinea. Borneo is a country of natural wonder, full of adventure. A land of head hunters, mysterious cultures and exotic wildlife and an island far off the main tourist trail. A veritable hidden paradise set amid the South China Sea.
