Cocaine Wars - Bolivia
Duration : 1052 Seconds

April 1996 For centuries the coco leaf was a blessing from the Gods. It alleviated the hunger of the Bolivian poor. Today it is a source of narcotic evil for the West. Bolivia's government, reliant on US aid and vulnerable to US dictates, has been forced to uphold a war against coco producers. The 'Leopards' - anti-narcotic paramilitaries - patrol the tropical jungles of Chapere and destroy small cocaine factories. Local farmers, like Berto, are put under pressure to rip up their coco plants and rePlace them with alternative crops. But now Berto can't sell his new produce and is more impoverished than ever. Human rights organisations report violent abuses committed by the 'Leopards' against men and women. US Ambassador coolly contests such reports and admits that Bolivia would be 'hurt' if it objected to US initiatives. Evo Morales leads the Chapere people in a protest rally. In their muddy villages, the tired faces don't understand why their government is trying to destroy their livelihood. Produced by ABC Australia Distributed by Journeyman Pictures

Bolivia febrero negro / octubre rojo civil war 2003 part 1
Duration : 531 Seconds

Few people knows that Bolivia had a civil war in february 2003 and in October 2003, people were protesting in La Paz and El Alto against the former president Goni Sanchez de Lozada and absurd taxations, and obviously a almost southamerican dictatorship led by USA in the background. The protest was repressed using weapons, tanks, shooting the people in the street, after a week of war the president escaped away.

Cochabamba Water Wars
Duration : 671 Seconds

I made this instead of making a PowerPoint presentation for a class. There is a lot of content missing that I covered when I actually presented to my class. There is a pretty general consensus that the water war didn't result in better water conditions in the region, but what I discovered is that the Bolivian government was actually able to get full funding for the massive Misicuni Project that many point to as the crux the water war. I think it is also important to point out that Bolivia declared clean water a human right, and encouraged the UN to do the same. In Sept 2010, the United Nations declared Clean Water and Sanitation a Human Right. This shift the way we find funding for water projects, since it should now be something that everyone has a right to for free. I look forward to seeing how Cochabamba grows in the years to come as a result of their new found water...

Urbelinda Ferrufino (ASEO) explains, how the ecological DRY TOILET is a solution to the water contamination caused by human excrements. Urine and feeces produce dry and liquid fertilizer/compost. The 24 communities in the watershed rainforest area in Santa Cruz also plant thousands of native trees, and are opposed to REDD, and say that any involvement with REDD project would be for them - unethical.

Bolivians depend on coca plant despite anti-drug efforts
Duration : 360 Seconds

or more than 30 years, a drug war was waged in Bolivia with the help of the US drug enforcement administration. Bolivias Yungas region is one of the worlds leading sources of the coca plant — the key ingredient in the production of cocaine. But Bolivias leftist leader, Eva Morales — himself a former coca farmer — recently expelled US drug enforcement agents from the country. As Worldfocus Ivette Feliciano, Bryan Myers and Ara Ayer discovered, many impoverished Bolivians depend on the coca plant for their livelihood. Shoveling Water, war on drugs, war on people part 1
Duration : 901 Seconds

This shows the truth about cocaine, this video is made about colombia, but in nearly all of south american countries you will find the same corruption and powerty and the same situation going on. This also discusses environmental damage, in this case the damage is caused by the military, using herbicides to kill of coca plants, they claim it destroys coca plants only, but the truth is coca plants are very resistant, usually they resist the herbicides, and after 1-2 generations they grow again in full strength in the same field. But in contrary this herbicedes damage: Crops of honest farmers(like bananas etc.), trees, bushes and grass in the whole area. The effects of it are truly damaging to our rainforests, and tons of it are sprayed every year by military helicopters, and dont forget colombia has the second biggest rainforest area in the world, and is very important in regulating CO² emissions. Also theres a lot of small wars going on, and a lot of powerty and lacking education as the result of corruption drives many to malnutrition or even starvation. And to all cocaine users I say this: Watch this, and when u realized for christ sake get off coca once and for all! This is not about your body or health or life, but with every gram cocaine u buy, u support blood money and enviromental damage, and thats the point. Oh and sorry about the bad quality, cant change it, I cant make a video that is raw in this quality already any better, I can only make sure its the same ...
