Festival in Bhutan
Duration : 13 Seconds

Festival in Bhutan Festival in Bhutan is religious events. The ground where they are held is purified and consecrated by lamas, so when you are watching a festival you are, in essence, on the perimeter of an outdoor religious ground. The conduct of the onlooker should be governed with this in mind. The dancers whether monks or layman, are in a state of meditation. They transform themselves into the deities, which they represent on the dance ground. They generate a spiritual power, which cleanses, purifies, enlightens and blesses the spectators. Festival (Tshechu) in Bhutan is religious ceremonies held on consecrated ground. Therefore it would be appreciated that respectful conduct is adhered to during these festival times. The dancers are in a state of meditation. They are assuming the personas of the deities, which they are representing. The dances bless the witnesses and also instruct them. With this in mind, it would be appreciated if the onlookers would adhere to respect behaviors. While photography is permitted care should be taken not to intrude upon the dances space as well as respect Bhutanese sentiment.

Ura Dance Festival
Duration : 317 Seconds

Sarah, Philip & Josh attended a Dance Festival at the Buddhist temple in the town of Ura in Central Bhutan on April 26, 2010. The Bhutanese Buddhists believe that the dances activate the relationship between humankind and deities, help people to attain liberating insight into the meaning of Buddha's teachings and drive away demons. The Bhutanese are modest people, but they have fun with phalluses at their Buddhist dance festivals. They believe that the penis has power to ward off evil spirits and demons. The clowns at dance festivals are among the most respected elders of the temple. They are great masters of Buddhism who subdue the evil one by mocking him. The clowns entertain before, during and after almost every dance performance.

Bhutan - Road to Shangri - La..
Duration : 601 Seconds

Bhutan! Oh Bhutan!! ... As a young aspiring film maker, I was awestruck by the breath taking beauty and large array of colors that blanketed this remote, Himalayan hide away. Every where one looked was an image waiting to be captured. Bhutan breathed it's way into my heart and night after night, through sleepless nights of collaboration, this film clip demanded passage into the world. Often referred to as The Last Shangri - La, Bhutan certainly is a country of strong tradition, devotion, and compassion. With temples built on high mountain passes, festivals of performing monks, boisterous games of archery, and smiles that warm the coldest of days, this was a journey of heart felt treasure. In love and gratitude.. 'Tashi Delek' - Thank you and God bless.
