Belize lies in the western Caribbean on the coast of Central America. Belize is home to a mix of ten different cultures including Garifuna, Maya, Creole, Mestizo, East Indian, and German Mennonites. Belize is a very stable democracy, and Belize has hundreds of ancient Maya temples, large tracts of unspoiled tropical rainforest, and this hemisphere's longest barrier reef, ideal for Adventure Travelers, scuba divers, Nature lovers and snorkelers.
Belize in Central America has a network of picturesque rivers and waterfalls winding from the Maya Mountains to the Caribbean Sea. | | Steve and Debbie Turner Travel to Xunantunich, Belize Duration : 432 Seconds http://www.grnreport.com 843.270.5611 Global Resorts Network Debbie Turner
Global Resorts Network Team Leader Debbie Turner offers a luxury travel club membership saving it's members up to 75% off. This small business opportunity also allows the ordinary family to create extraordinary income, even 6 and 7 figures.
Zunantunich, Belize: Steve and Debbie Turner from Mt. Pleasant, SC are on vacation and ventured out to the ancient ruins of Zunantunich in Belize. Overlooking the Mopan River, the Maya Site of Xunantunich is located approximately eight miles west of San Ignacio Town at San Jose Succotz Village in the Cayo District. Xunantunich is accessible by public transportation, but after crossing the Mopan River by way of a hand-cranked ferry, you must walk about one mile to the entrance of the site. By using a travel guide or tour operator, you will be ferried across with their vehicle, or able to catch a van on the other side thus eliminating the walk.
Xunantunich was a major ceremonial center during the Classic Period. The site is composed of six major plazas and surrounded by more than twenty-five temples and palaces. The most prominent structure located at the south end of the site is the pyramid "El Castillo" (The Castle) which rises 130 feet high above the plaza. "El Castillo" was the tallest man-made structure in all of Belize until the discovery of "Canaa" at Caracol. The most notable feature on "El Castillo" is the reconstructed frieze on the east side of the lower temple.
Currently, additional explorations and excavations are being performed by Dr. Richard Leventhal and the Institute of Archaeology in an effort to better understand the history of Xunantunich.
Steve and Debbie were with their tour guide, Suzette Betancourt, 8423 Raleigh Street, Lake Independence, Belize, Email: topguidebze@gmail.com, Tel: 501-672-2233 or 501-604-7409 and said she did a great job. They spent about 2 hours at the archaeological site where there was excavation information, three stelea on display, one of which you could touch and buildings to ponder and explore.
The Turners climbed to the top of El Castillo and at the top had panoramic views of the Belize countryside as well as overlooking Guatamala City. The climb is not for those who are afraid of heights as there's really nothing to hold onto. Also, if winds were strong, you would not want to be at these heights as there are no barriers to keep you from going over.
Trees were present that offered the All Spice herb, one that was used in ceremonies.
The weather was mid 80's and hot enough that drinking water and a dry cloth for wiping your brow is necessary.
For the best deals in travel, you will want all the details about Steve and Debbie's Lifetime Travel Club Membership allowing for savings up to 75% off. Contact Steve and Debbie at steve@steveanddebbieturner.com, 843.343.7283 or visit their membership site at www.LiveYourLifeOnVacation.com.

| | Belize Baboons, Howeler Monkeys, www.DiscoveringBelize.com Duration : 100 Seconds Bermudian Landing was visited by primate researchers in 1981, whose follow up studies highlighted the higher densities of Black Howler Monkey. After initial consultation with the villagers in 1984, an application was made to WWF USA in 1985 for funds to set up the reserve. Local landowners and the Village Council signed a voluntary management agreement in 1985. The reserve has expanded since to include over 100 landowners who have committed themselves to the land management practices winch accommodate the Howler monkey (known as baboons in Creole).
