The Carroll County Arkansas Veterinarians Without Borders traveled to Hopkins, Belize in February of 2008 on a mission of mercy. When the population of the local domestic pets, mostly dogs, grows to overwhelming numbers, they are commonly poisoned in their food until their numbers diminish to a tolerable level. These concerned Arkansas care givers brought medicine and equipment to spay and neuter these animals to try to avoid their mass destruction by such inhumane means. This is their story, as told by photographer and veterinary assistant, Ramona Hambrick set to local music in pictures, video and interviews collected during and between surgeries and then back home on the local NPR affiliate, KUAF of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. They will return for their next mission on September 3, 2009.

ABC Nightline features The Belize Zoo, September 10th 2007. Jeffery Kauffman visits "The Best Little Zoo In The World" and talks to Sharon Matola, Belize Zoo Keeper. The 29-acre zoo features over a hundred animals, all local, and include tapirs, jaguarundis, macaws, monkeys, storks, jaguars, otters, owls, black jaguars, and vultures. The zoo's main attraction is its jungle setting, where the animals are kept in natural wildlife habitat.
