About 1.5 million soldiers of the Indian subcontinent served during the First World War, 850000 of them overseas.About 80482 would not survive the war. During WW-1, it fought in China, France and Belgium (Flanders), Mesopotamia against Turkey, Irak, Iran, Egypt , Palestine, Gallipoli and in East Africa. On the Western Front it fought in France and Belgium-Flanders at Ypres twice from 22 October 1914 till 31 October 1914 and from 22 April 1915 till 1st of May 1915, La Bassee, and Neuve Chapelle from 10 to 13 marches 1915, Aubers Ridge, Festubert, Loos 25 September 1915, Givenchy and Somme from July 1916 to November 1916. By the end of 1915, the Indian army Corps had left Europe. In 14 months it had lost 34252 men. However, there were always some Indian battalions at the Western Front, for example, during the battle of the Somme. Minimum 500 men from Indian Army corps perished near Ypres in the final days of October 1914.(1st battle of Ieper) In the 2nd battle of Ieper between 24 april and 1st may 3889 men of Lahore division died. Out of 444 men of 47th. Sikh Regiment, 348 did not come back on 27 April 1915.

CANADIANS at The Last Post Ceremony on May 3rd, 2010 at Menin Gate, Ypres (Ieper), Belgium, with thousands of high school students in attendance. Filmed during the 'Victory In Europe Tour' from 'Paris to Berlin' through EF Tours. This Last Post post has been played by the local Fire Brigade every day at 8pm since the end of World War One. Filmed and edited by Jonathan Wagner. The Menin Gate Memorial to the Missing is a war memorial in Ypres, Belgium dedicated to the commemoration of British and Commonwealth soldiers who were killed in the Ypres Salient of World War I and whose graves are unknown. The memorial is located at the eastern exit of the town and marks the starting point for one of the main roads out of the town that led Allied soldiers to the front line. Designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield and built by the British government, the Menin Gate Memorial was unveiled on 24 July 1927. Available in full HD 1080p. Volume #1 starts with the outbreak of war as the German blitzkrieg invades Poland in September of 1939. Soon afterwards, Germany conquers Belgium, Holland and France. Great Britain is forced from the European continent and then is attacked during the Battle of Britain. England eventually gets the help of the US and the Americans help to supply the British Isles. Germany brings war into the Atlantic using their submarines to sink ship after ship. The Germans celebrate victory after victory for now. It will not be long however as the Americans get ready for war and will join the allies in late 1941.
