We are in Southern Belgium at the preserved Railway Line 132. This line, the CFV3V (Chemin de Fer des 3 Vallées) is privately owned, and has been in existence since 1973. It runs for 17 Kms, from Mariembourg to Treignes, via Nismes, Olloy-sur-Viroin and Vierves. This Clip shows the arrival, at the station throat of a German loco, a BR 50, with a rake of ancient type K3 carriages and a Mail van.

An unequalled ensemble of fifty-six Belfries of Belgium and France is designated by UNESCO as World Heritage Site, in recognition of an architectural manifestation of emerging civic independence in historic Flanders and neighbouring regions from feudal and religious influences, leading to a degree of local democracy of great significance in the history of humankind. UNESCO inscribed 32 towers onto its list of Belfries of Flanders and Wallonia in 1999. In 2005, the belfry of Gembloux in the Walloon Region of Belgium and 23 belfries from the Nord-Pas-de-Calais and Picardie régions in the northern tip of France were appended to the renamed list. A notable omission is the Brussels City Hall belfry, as it was already part of the Grand Place World Heritage Site. Besides civic belfries, or buildings such as city halls that rather obviously may have rendered a similar service, the list includes religious buildings that also had served as watchtower or alarm bell tower: the Cathedral of Our Lady in Antwerp, the St. Rumbolds Tower in Mechelen, and the St. Leonard's Church in Zoutleeuw - all three in Flanders, Belgium. This video gives a small impression of Brussels. This summer we spent there 1,5 day, when we went with our boat, on the way to Paris. Much too short to see all the interesting features of this city! Brussels, the capital of Belgium and the capital city of the European Union, has grown from a 10th-century fortress town founded by a descendant of Charlemagne into a metropolis of more than one million inhabitants. The metropolitan area has a population of over 1.8 million, making it the largest in Belgium. The architecture in Brussels is diverse, and spans from the medieval buildings on the Grand Place to the post-modern buildings of the EU institutions. There are many attractions, like the Grand Place, since 1988 a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with the Gothic town hall in the old center, the St. Michael and Gudula Cathedral, the Church of Saint Jacques-sur-Coudenberg, the Royal Palace, the Royal Galleries of St. Hubert and the Laken Castle with its large greenhouses. Regrettably the Laken Castle was closed in the summer.

Recorded July 20, 2011: Bruges (Brugge in Dutch) is the capital and largest city of the province of West Flanders in the Flemish Region of Belgium. It is located in the northwest of the country. The historic city centre is a prominent World Heritage Site of UNESCO and it is often referred to as "the Venice of the North." On my day trip here from Paris I spent the day walking around and seeing the sites of this beautiful city. I walked along the picturesque canals and visited the Church of Our Lady, Market Square, Burg Square and ended the day with a boat cruise through the canals of the city. From: timvp.com
