| | The Bangla Beat -- Looping Beatbox and Harmonica Duration : 201 Seconds I call this one "The Bangla Beat" because it was inspired by my childhood memories of my dad playing his traditional Bengali bamboo flute at night after my brother and I had gone to bed. I can still hear that flute sound in my head to this very day. I'm playing a Bb Hohner Blues harp that I retuned to Just Intonation. I'm using my DIY bullet mic (see my video on how I made that) through my new Digitech RP155 with my own custom patches (FX + Amp combinations). The RP155 allowed me to make my harp sound like my dad's bamboo flute! I'm also taking full advantage of the RP155's built in looping capabilities. The RP 155 is fed into my DIY 30 watt amp head set to clean. This is then fed through my DIY speaker cabinet with vintage 2x10" hifi speakers. Sound and video recorded on my Pentax Optio digital camera set to video mode. | | Pubuç Burnu, part 1 of 2 Duration : 310 Seconds The Pabuç Burnu shipwreck offers a window into the economic and technological practices of the East Greek world before the Persian conquests of 546 and the unified resistance that led to the Ionian revolt a half-century later. "'Is it really a shipwreck?' photographer Don Frey wondered aloud. Don had just surfaced from an exploratory dive to investigate a scatter of ceramics reported by Turkish diver Selim Dincer. Intact and broken amphoras, or two-handled storage jars, dotted the sloping surface of the seabed 40 m (132 ft) underwater off the coast of Pabuç Burnu. "Shoe Point," shaped like a curved sandal, lies about 35 km (21 miles) from Bodrum, the site of ancient Halicarnassus, where the tomb built by King Mausolus became one of the seven wonders of the ancient world." "George Bass, director of the 2001 survey, felt sure it was a wreck when, from the submersible Carolyn, he watched Mutlu Gunay lift an amphora from the sand, revealing a nearly intact wine pitcher beneath. These must mark more than the cargo jettisoned from a ship in distress. The team's spirits rose higher after Mark Lawall, an amphora expert at the University of Manitoba, dated an emailed photograph of one of the jars to the mid-6th century BC. No shipwreck from the Archaic Period, which laid the foundation for the glory of Classical Greece, had ever been excavated in the Eastern Mediterranean!" - Elizabeth Greene Source Greene, Elizabeth.
