Iraq | Two Faces at Albareh Art Gallery, Bahrain
Duration : 595 Seconds

Iraq: Two Faces at Albareh Gallery in Bahrain, is the first presentation of two of the most notable Iraqi artists, thirty-six years after they left their country to further their education, not to realise their own creative ambitions, but to create art that would distinguish itself from other Western artistic achievements. In their absence, Saddam Hussains tyranny, the Iran-Iraq war and the two Gulf Wars consequently caused many Iraqi intellectuals, artists and prominent individuals to leave the country. Faisel and Modhir never managed to go back to their motherland. Instead, they manifested their own artistic independence as well as their desire to participate in the important changes taking place in the world of art, for Iraq. These two artists used their art to pursue their artistic dreams for their country. Their art became ambassadors that represent Iraq in an international milieu of artists, intellectuals and art collectors. Iraq: Two Faces, presents a selection of paintings that epitomise the striking look of Faisel Laibi and the bold spirit of Modhir Ahmed. The result is an unusual combination modern realism and post modern two-dimensional art a clash of radically two different styles that has been coexisting for more three decades but with one unified objective: To redefine the world view on Iraqi tradition, modernism and the avant-garde.

Nawal Al-Sabbagh - The Art of Success - Bahraini Views
Duration : 130 Seconds

Not hailing from a traditional trading family and even losing everything didn't stop Nawal Al-Sabbagh from re-establishing herself in business, and ultimately winning the prestigious Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum's top prize against a venerable list of some 120 Middle Eastern entrepreneurs. The secret of her success? Being passionate about what she does and employing her artistic talents. As an accomplished artist, Nawal treats her flower arrangements as paintings rather than just a bunch of flowers. And people notice and appreciate her creations because the passion she puts into those arrangements - as she does in everything else as well - is quite obvious.

Manama, Bahrain: Rome's performance for Abbas Al-Mosawi in his art studio
Duration : 166 Seconds

(from www.coloursofbahrain.com Abbas Al-Mosawi learned his craft first under the tutelage of the Bahraini artist, Ahmed Baqer. Later as a student in Cairo he was attracted to the impressionist style of Sabry Ragheb, whom he considers to this day to be the prince of painters. The sources for his work derive principally from the old souk of Manama and its surrounding villages. Given the irreversible changes of the urban and rural landscape, his paintings provide the viewer with the necessary imaginative and aesthetic bridge to the past. Indeed such is the power of his native Bahrain on his artistic output that it colours both literally and figuratively his abstract paintings.

"a Chair and a Painting" Exhibition at Albareh Art Gallery
Duration : 175 Seconds

This collective exhibition gathers 9 international Arab artists (Ahmed Al Bahrani; Delair S. Shaker; Fadi Yazigi; Khaled Farhan; Mahmud Al Obaidi; Mohamad Al Ameri; Nazar Yahya; Nizar Sabour; Salman Al Malik). Each artist has to produce a canvas and a chair to be displayed in the café. What makes this exhibition special is that most of the artists dealt for the first time with new materials for chair making. Some has used wood, and some others have integrated cotton and metal in their process of creation. This collective exhibition brings the public to think around these unique pieces conceived specially for the show, an abstract chair and a concrete painting!

Diversity From The Arab World
Duration : 365 Seconds

This Group exhibition gathers a gradient of art experiences and differing modes of expression showcased to put forth the different artistic styles, identities as well as the diversity available in the Arab world. The show presents an amalgamation of differing artistic expressions emanating from differing cultural backgrounds. These experiences come from Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, Oman and Yemen. Although the combinations of artists vary in their age and experiences, the works presented question the traditional concepts by offering differing styles and techniques. The works will range from photography to painting to video installations as well as sculptures. The classical photographic artwork will be presented in a new form to show new insights, visions and techniques that have emerged from the artists' lenses through the deployment of technology and graphic techniques into the finished artwork. The paintings presented will also tackle different subjects and will show the various techniques implemented. This approach will also apply to sculptural works highlighting different materials, forms and contents. "I hope that this exhibition will expose the rich diverse history and culture of the Arab world. I made sure that there was no bias to techniques, topics or even schools of art...I hope that this exhibition will achieve the aim of Albareh and that is to progress our community in the visual culture further as I am a strong believer ...
