The Bahamas Weekly News team brings an exclusive video interview with international actor Jaymes Bulter who is presently in Grand Bahama for his role of "Smoke" on the German film production, Der Seewolf (The Sea Wolf). Butler lives between the USA and Germany, and is possibly the only American actor working in film and TV in Germany. He has Bahamian roots and owns property in Cat Island, where his Butler family side originates from. In this interview Jaymes Butler talks about his role in Der Seewolf, and mentions the many films he has been involved in. He also talks about his acting career, and how an actor has to stay in the mainstream to keep their career going. From Seewolf, which wraps shortly in The Bahamas but continues back in the studios in Germany, Jaymes will go on to a role in the next James Bond film. "Wind Jammers" is an independent film production about an American girl who learns to sail in the Bahamas but learns much more about herself and the world around her. In this video interview you will hear from actor Craig Pinder who plays the dastardly, Richard Whitehead. You will then hear from Justice von Maur who plays the lead roll of Justice Wilson, an American teenager who moves to The Bahamas. "Wind Jammers" will premiere at the 2010 Bahamas International Film Festival . Film Synopsis: A young mixed race girl, Justice, moves to the Bahamas with her adoptive parents and experiences a new culture. The family joins the local sailing club and discovers racial undercurrents. Although there are no rules against black members and most of the members don't mind, one influential member makes it difficult for the new family. Justice joins the sailing program and meets new friends. She loves sailing and decides to compete in the National Regatta. A 1964 Olympic Champion in sailing is impressed by Justice and recognizes that she can help change the attitudes of his beloved Bahamas and coaches her to be a first class sailor. Freeport, The Bahamas - The Bahamian feature-length family film, Wind Jammers was screened for the first time in Grand Bahama on February 12th at the new Canal House conference center of the Pelican Bay Hotel to a sold out audience. The Bahamas Weekly brings you footage of the Wind Jammers crew arriving at the Grand Bahama airport, then on to the premiere held at the Pelican Bay Hotel; and then the following day we take you to the Grand Bahama Sailing Club and out to sea. Guests arrived to Optimists vessels on display in the entrance-way and a red carpet entrance to the Delphine's room at the Canal House . Optis are small, single-handed sailing dinghy's used at the Grand Bahama Sailing Club (GBSC)... Families enjoyed complimentary popcorn provided by Pelican Bay and had a chance to meet and get autographs from the star of Wind Jammers, Justice von Maur. Both co-directors, Kareem Mortimer and Ric von Maur were in attendance along with actors Moya Thompson and Claudette 'Cookie' Allens. "I am so glad we were invited to show the movie in Grand Bahama, and everyone was so nice. I really enjoyed sailing with the kids at the Grand Bahama the day following the screening," said fifteen-year-old Justice von Maur who learned to sail when she was ten years of age. Grand Bahama Island -- On Sunday, June 1st, the German film production cast and crew of Der Seewolf (The Sea Wolf) left the set at The Bahamas Film Studios early to participate in a friendly soccer match against the Town and Country Predators women's team at the Freeport Rugby Football Club. Now in their final days of filming, the soccer game was a featured event for the group, which allowed them some time for fun and interaction with local residents of The Bahamas. In this video, editor, Robbin Whachell, also a player from "Team Predators" interviews German "Team Ghost" players, Bjoern Holzhausen and Stefan Gbureck. Bjoern works in the props department for the movie, and Stefan is in the cast as well as the marine department. Mary Woodside-Knowles, manager of the Town and Country Predators is also featured. And we didn't leave out our national players of the future - young Dean Bethel and Luca Borsetto also share a view words about the movie, and the match that they both got the opportunity to play in. tinyurl.com - Jett Travolta, the 16-year-old son of John Travolta and Kelly Preston, has died during a family vacation. The family's attorney, Michael Ossi, confirmed the tragic news, telling Reuters the young man suffered a fatal seizure at the Travolta clan's home at the Old Bahama Bay Hotel on Grand Bahama Island. Efforts were made to revive Jett, who had a history of seizures, but he died at the scene. The teenager was the couple's oldest child. They also have a daughter, Ella Blue, born in 2000.

On April 10, 2011, the University of Miami's RJ Dunlap Marine Conservation Program teamed up with Summit Series at Sea for a day of action-packed shark tagging. Artists, actors, journalists, entrepreneurs, and many more brought both imagination and open hearts to see how they could help do their part in saving sharks. Dr. Neil Hammerschlag led the expedition, involving over 60 people from Summit Series in the research experience. To earn a spot on the boat, Summit Series participants had to post their own creative solutions to various marine-related issues on a blog called Shark Tag You're It (sharktagyoureit.com).
