Xinaliq,Khinalug or Khinalugh is an ancient Caucasian village going back to the Caucasian Albanian period. It is located high up in the mountains of Quba Rayon, Azerbaijan. It is also a municipality in Quba Rayon; the municipality consists of the villages of Khinalug and Qalayxudat. It is located just north of Quba (which is two hours from Baku) in the middle of the Greater Caucasus mountains that divide Russia and the South Caucasus. Khinalug is also the highest, most remote and isolated village in Azerbaijan and among the highest in Caucasus, the weather changes dramatically during summer and winter ranging from −20 degrees Celsius to 18 degrees Celsius. Khinalug has a population of about 2000 people. This small group of people speaks the Khinalug language, which belongs to the Northeast Caucasian language family, although many speak Azerbaijani as well. Furthermore, although citizens of Azerbaijan, they are considered a different ethnicity. Khinalug is amongst the most ancient and still active places in the world, the history of Khinalug is 5000 years old. Before the conversion to Christianity of Caucasian Albania in the 3rd century, and Islam in the 7th century, the people of Khinalug were followers of the prophet Zoroaster, who established Zoroastrianism. An half Iranian-Turkish half Dutch/English-Americans experience growing up in America, journeying to Iran and living there for one year. My name is Nina. I was born in Binghamton New York on March 21, 1982 to an American-Dutch and Welsh mother and an Iranian-Azeri Turkish father. My mother's ancestors have been in America since the time of the early American settlers. They came from Holland and Wales. The Hamblets traveled in Ox carts from Vermont to settle in New York State. They built a home and founded Hambletville. Steven Hancock came from England and founded the Christ Church in Binghamton. David Bryant was a bear hunter and a giant. His hat and shoes are in a museum. My father is an Azeri-Turk from the Iranian side of the tri border area of Turkey, former Soviet Azerbaijan and Iran. It is a very captivating, beautiful and fascinating place, where the Silk Road runs through my Grandfather's old home, where Noah's Arc had landed, and where Saint Jude's grave rests, among the Kurds and the Turks. I have over 200 wonderful and loving family members in Iran, where I lived for 1 year, from 2002-2003.

Small businessmen in Azerbaijan travel to the capital city to purchase their inventory at the wholesale bazaar. It is common for individuals to supplement their income with several business. The Kiva client in this case, Sabri, took a loan for his primary business raising livestock. For additional income to support his family he travels 3 hours to the Baku Bazaar to purchase plastic kitchen dishes wholesale and then re-sell them to cafes and resataurants near his home.
