They had been warned that there might be trouble down there, but as expected were received warmly by wonderful guatemalans. Their adventures included single track down hill mountain biking zip lining (also known as flying fox) and some other tit bits. their adventures took place mainly in Antigua. We were there the time that the sink holes opened up in guatemala. Antigua & Barbuda is a twin-island state nation lying between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Antigua Guatemala, founded in 1543, was the seat of Spanish colonial government for the Kingdom of Guatemala, which included Chiapas (southern Mexico), Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Today it is Spanish America's best-preserved colonial city. In 1773 a catastrophic earthquake destroyed the city and 3 years later the King of Spain allowed the capital to be moved to the safer ground at Guatemala City. (October 2007)
