Two cannon were found on the beach near Arch Cape in Clatsop County, Oregon, between Feb. 16-18, 2008. Natural erosion of the beach revealed the artifacts. Research and study will determine the cannons' origin, but some have speculated they come from the 1846 shipwreck of the USS Shark. They have been moved from the beach and are now stored in tubs of water at an Oregon State Park while a plan for study is crafted. More information online at www.oregon.gov
