A Town without Pity (1961) is a black and white movie filmed in Austria dealing with American occupying forces in Germany. The movie, based on the novel by Manfred Gregor, features one of the most haunting, raucous recurring songs ever, A Town without Pity sung by Gene Pitney. The song was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song but lost out to lost out to Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercers song Moon River. In post World War II occupied Germany four soldiers leave their army post and travel to the nearby town where they have some beer and are looking for some action. When they come upon a young German girl changing from her bikini beside the local swimming hole they gang rape her. The movie is the story of the defense of the four soldiers, who are condemned, by Major Steve Garrett (Kirk Douglas) during a show trial held in civilian facilities near the base. The movie is an indictment of the treatment of the girl by her father and the local people. Although the tagline for the movie was The Story of What Four Men Did To a Girl And What the Town Did To Them! This seems to miss the point of the movie. The lack of pity wasnt directed toward the four US Army soldiers who raped the local girl, but toward the girl herself. The movie is a thought-provoking movie that challenges the belief that a woman who is raped is asking for it. Almost since Pakistan's birth, its government has been battling a low-level insurgency in the southwest region of Baluchistan. The region accounts for nearly half of Pakistan's territory. Its strategic position and natural resources are attracting the involvement of foreign powers, which are making the insurgency worse. Baluchistan is mostly a no-go zone for foreign journalists. But many Baluch nationalists escape the dangers and poverty of their homeland and travel to the port of Karachi to conduct business. Many ordinary Baluchis in search of opportunity come to Baluch Para, a neighborhood of roughly 10000 people in Karachi. Nationalist graffiti and posters of martyred and missing Baluch rebel leaders plaster the area's dusty walls. A student activist says many young Baluchis see no hope in negotiating with a government that has ignored them for so long. "Baluchistan has been with Pakistan for 62 or 63 years. Thousands of surface-to-air missiles were taken by Al Qaeda rebels from a huge Tripoli weapons warehouse amid reports of weapons looting across war-torn Libya. They are Grinch SA-24 shoulder-launched missiles, also known as Igla-S missiles, the equivalent of US-made Stinger missiles. Human Rights Watch found dozens of empty crates marked with packing lists and inventory numbers that identified the items as Igla-S surface-to-air missiles. Grinch SA-24s are designed to target front-line aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles and drones. They can shoot down a plane flying as high as 11000 feet and can travel 19000 feet straight out. Fighters aligned with the National Transitional Council and others swiped armaments from the storage facility, witnesses told Human Rights Watch. Peter Bouckaert, Human Rights Watch emergencies director, said that he has seen the same pattern in armories looted elsewhere in Libya, noting that "in every city we arrive, the first thing to disappear are the surface-to-air missiles." "We are talking about some 20000 surface-to-air missiles in all of Libya, and I've seen cars packed with them." he said. "They could turn all of North Africa into a no-fly zone." The lack of security at the weapons site raises concerns about stability in post-Gadhafi Libya and whether the new NTC leadership is doing enough to stop the weapons from getting into the wrong hands. Federal agency tasked with airport security now routinely interrogates Americans about their financial affairs. A traveler flying into Las Vegas was questioned by the TSA about his small collection of silver coins, another example of how the federal agency is acting more like a secret police unit than an airport security outfit, routinely interrogating Americans about their financial affairs. Alex Jones talked to Jeff, a software engineer, after he passed through security, who told him that TSA agents had questioned him about why he was carrying silver coins and demanded to know their value. The screeners also asked if Jeff was collecting them for a hobby or an investment. Jeff explained that he was simply planning to cash in the coins and use that money on his vacation instead of dipping into his bank account. The total value of the coins was no more than $600 dollars. The delay led to TSA agents telling Jeff they couldn't guarantee that his bags would even make it onto the plane. This is not the first time US citizens have been harassed by TSA screeners for carrying items of any value, or refusing to answer invasive questions about their financial affairs. In 2009, Ron Paul campaign treasurer Steven Bierfeldt was detained and interrogated for nearly half an hour by TSA officials for the crime of passing a cash box through a metal detector which contained $4700 in campaign funds. How is the core spire piece still straight? Everything around it was blasted to dust and the demolished building above did not provide enough downward force to crush it. There would not be another answer since the building fell in on itself. The lower building was not damaged by fire but also blasted to dust with little resistance. ~10 seconds/110 floors = ~11 feet of downward travel every 1/10 second = ~1 foot every 1/100 second through 100 stories of over-engineered steel and concrete structures. A lead ball dropped from the roof would take 9.2 seconds. All that steel and concrete provided .8 second resistance? That is 8/1000 second resistance for 100 individual floors. Collapsed? Impossible in that time frame. In order for the building to fall that fast every connection and every piece of support steel would have to be removed instantly and allowed to fall like a rock or blasted and sucked into a vaccum created from explosions underneath.
