Czerwone Gitary - Biały krzyż (The White Cross) I thought that the next translated song which I'll upload, would be "Kryzysowa narzeczona" ("A Critical Fiancee") by Lady Pank, but in the end I chose this one. Czerwone Gitary (The Red Guitars) are on the most well-known Polish bands and one of the biggest stars on Polish music scene in 60s and 70s. They are very often called Polish The Beatles, due to their popularity, influence on other bands in that period and some similarities between the members of these bands (for example the lead singer and composer, Krzysztof Klenczon, just like John Lennon, died in the tragic circumstances - in his case that was a car accident). The band continues its activity to the present day, but without Klenczon and Seweryn Krajewski (the second singer and composer), who had a serious argument with other band members, it's not the same as the old one. They still have some quite good songs, but they certainly don't equal with the ones made with Klenczon and/or Krajewski. "Biały Krzyż" ("The White Cross") is the one of their most famous and most beautiful songs. It was written by Klenczon, whose father was a partisan during World War II en.wikipedia.org , and ofcourse was performed in the memory of all Polish soldiers who fought for Poland, especially for the ones, who sacrificed their lifes for the sake of their Motherland. At the end of every performance of this song during the concerts, Klenczon was laying the white flowers on the scene.

Boguslaw Mec & Justyne Steczkowska (Eurovision 1995 contestant) - Maly bialy pies (Little White Dog) Bogusław Mec is a Polish singer. Justyna Steczkowska (b. August 2, 1972 in Stalowa Wola, Poland) is a Polish singer, song-writer, and actress. She comes from a big musical family, and played violin in a family band before becoming a solo singer. She has a vocal range of 4 octaves. Steczkowska became famous when she won a song contest in Poland Szansa na sukces with the song "Buenos Aires". Later, she represented Poland in the 1995 Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Sama", ("Alone") which was placed eighteenth. After a few CDs with her own songs, she released Alkimja, a compilation of Jewish songs with Polish lyrics. She received multiple awards including a Fryderyk for The Best Song of The Year. She appeared in two films: Billboard and Na koniec świata (To the End of the World). She took part in the Polish edition of Dancing with the Stars (the sixth edition) where she came in second and in co-hosts Dancing on Ice. She sold over 700000 albums.

Republika - Biala flaga (White Flag) I decided to make a translation of one of the songs suggested by TheAgres 25. I wanted to translate this song anyway, but I thought that I'll make it in the further future. Republika (Republic) is very well-known Polish band, but - speaking frankly - I like only small part of their compositions ("Mamona", "Nieustanne tango" and some others), including this one. Republika's music is too superficial for me (itwould be perfect for dystopical movies), but it doesn't bother many other people ;) Unfortunately this band - due to leader's death in 2001 - isn't active anymore (band members thought that without Grzegorz Ciechowski it would have no sens). "Biała flaga" is one of the biggest hits in band's history and also one of the best-known Polish songs from 80s. The lyrics are universal.

I heard quite a few very good Polish songs but this one has stood out so far from what I have heard. It has be be heard in the Polish language so that the song does not lose its feeling and emotion. Czesław Niemen - Sen o Warszawie (Dream About Warsaw) Czesław Niemen (February 16, 1939 -- January 17, 2004) real name Czesław Juliusz Wydrzycki, was one of the most important and original Polish singer-songwriters and rock balladeers of the last quarter-century, singing mainly in the Polish language. Niemen was born in Stare Wasiliszki, Białystok Voivodeship, interwar Poland (now in Grodno Province, Belarus). After World War II it became a part of Byelorussian SSR and in the 1950s he was allowed to move to Poland. He made his debut in the early 1960s, singing Polish rock and soul music. He possessed an unusually wide voice range and equally rich intonation. He was also an ardent composer and a keyboard player. Soon after his first successful concerts in France, he started to use the pseudonym Niemen instead of his real name, gaining wider notoriety in Poland and making it easier to pronounce by foreigners (Niemen is a Polish pronunciation of the Neman River and this way he wanted to mark his birth country). His song of 1967, "Dziwny jest ten świat" (Strange Is This World) is commonly acknowledged to be the most important Polish protest song of that era (in 1972 an English version was also recorded).
