It's a mix of Spanish, French and Italian (Italians say that they understand more Catalan than Spanish xD). I translated the lyrics for you; they may seem kinda lame, and even knowing it for a long time, I didn't understand the real meaning until I sang it. - Paintings by : Federico del Campo ( Peruvian artist , 1837-1927 ) . - Song : Que c'est triste Venise sung by Claude François ( rare version ) . the original version by the great singer & composer "Charles Aznavour " , song written by " Françoise Dorin " , It was first recorded in French by " Aznavour " in 1964, and later in Spanish (Venecia Sin Ti), German (Venedig im Grau), English (How Sad Venice Can Be), and most notably in 1971 in Italian (Com'è Triste Venezia). Catalan singer "Dyango " recorded Venecia Sin Ti in 1994, to much praise. & this rare version by Claude François :) - Federico Del Campo was the finest painter of Venetian views in the latter half of the nineteenth century. Born in Lima, Peru, Del Campo was an assistant in Leonardo Barbieri's Academy in Lima and the owner of a number of shops selling perfumes and toys. At the age of 30, a patron, Sen. Goyneche paid for him to travel to Europe. In Madrid, Del Campo studied with Lorenzo Valles (1830-1910), an artist who himself worked in Italy, dying in Rome in 1910. Del Campo exhibited a "View of Venice" in 1881 in Madrid and, since he had painted in Assisi several years before, it is clear that he had travelled extensively through Italy by this time. The main body of Del Campo's work, like that of his rival Rubens Santoro (1859-1942), who also painted in Capri and Naples, consists of Venetian views, highly detailed paintings supplied as luxurious mementoes to prosperous European and American visitors. My photos and impressions of Barcelona during several holidays in 2007. @ Catalans: If you just want to yell at me because the music isn't Catalan, then don't even try it. The main song is called "Barcelona NIghts" (Ottmar Liebert). So if you still think it is completely nonsense that I chose this one I can't help you. And YES, I know that this music is actually Andalusian and I know that all Spain is not equal to Andalusia! I am not a damn dumb tourist. So, any more questions or complaints??
